Pentecost Sunday Communion
This Sunday, May 19, is Pentecost Sunday. We celebrate the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples after Jesus had ascended back to heaven. It’s known as the birthday of the Christian Church. To celebrate the day, we are asking folks to wear something red, yellow, or orange to church. Those are the colors of fire which is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. We will also take Holy Communion during worship. If you will be watching the worship service from home on FaceBook remember to gather your elements so you can take communion with us. May God’s Spirit fill our church!
Memorial Day
Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday, May 27 this year. We will remember those who have served our country during worship on Sunday, May 26. If you know someone who is serving or has served in our military branches, bring in their picture or something representing them for us to display and honor them. This year there will be no service at the cemetery. Instead, The Hometown Heroes Motorcycle Association will have a slow ride through each cemetery to raise the Flag and then roll on.
Church in the Park
Sunday, June 16, will be our spring church in the park. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. as usual. Bring a lawn chair, and a hat if we are in the sun.
There will be a carry-in lunch following. Pulled pork, beverages, and dinnerware will be provided. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to enjoy our beautiful park and worship with nature. See you there!
On Saturday, April 20, we had a very successful workday at the park. We had a great turnout of 20 people. The Rec. Building was cleaned, tree limbs were trimmed, and sticks/brush was picked up. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped.
Bridgid’s Path is our May mission project. Brigid’s Path seeks to improve the health of newborn babies and mothers impacted by addiction. This organization offers grace for the past, support for the present and hope for the future.
Here is a list of some items they are running low on.
They also accept new volunteers several times a year. You can learn more about this loving team at https://brigidspath.org.
In June, the mission focus is on Habitat for Humanity, aligning with Father's Day to honor the diligence of fathers everywhere. This organization collaborates with individuals locally and globally to construct or enhance their homes, fostering a sense of community and support. Homeowners contribute personally to the building process, working with volunteers to create a space of their own, while managing an affordable mortgage. Your contributions empower them towards a more stable and self-reliant future. To support this cause, donations can be made via checks payable to Nashville UCC, with "Habitat" indicated on the memo line.
Worship at Randall Residence
Nashville UCC has been asked to participate in a new ministry providing Sunday Services for the residents of the new Randall Residence senior living in West Milton. We will visit them 4 times a year. Our first worship service was on the afternoon of May 5. Pastor Alecia, Krissy O’Malley and Ed Miller provided music, inspiration and conversation to a room full of elder folks. One of the best parts was getting to know the folks living there and hearing their stories. It was a special time. We would love to have several church members go with us when we do these services. Talking with the folks is an important part of this ministry. Please join us! The future dates are Aug. 4, Nov. 3, and Feb. 2.
Volunteers lent a Helping Hand
On Friday, May 10, thirteen Milton-Union High School students volunteered at the church, washing windows inside and out, and tidied the church grounds by picking up leaves. Their hard work shone as brightly as the cleaned glass, reflecting the spirit of community service. A heartfelt thank you to the varsity M Club at M-U for their community spirit and hard work!
